Questions store owners ask
Short, exact answers. If yours is not here, write to support@tendmystore.com.
Basics
What is TendMyStore?
A connector that lets ChatGPT or Claude manage your WooCommerce store. It covers products, stock, orders, recorded refunds, customers, coupons, shipping, taxes, settings, reports and files. You ask in plain words; TendMyStore makes the change through WooCommerce's own REST API.
Do I need to install a plugin?
No. WooCommerce's built-in approval screen creates a key for TendMyStore. An optional TendMyStore Connector plugin for abandoned-cart lists is planned but not released yet.
What does my store need?
WooCommerce on an HTTPS address the internet can reach, permalinks set to anything except "Plain", and WooCommerce Analytics turned on for reports and stock alerts. If a firewall limits API access, allow 138.68.124.232. See Get started.
Which WordPress user should approve?
An administrator. TendMyStore can do what the approving user can do, and a Shop manager cannot, for example, delete customer accounts.
Safety and data
Can it change things without asking me?
Simple edits and new items, such as a price change or a new coupon, apply at once and can be undone. Deletions, bulk changes, anything that emails a customer, recorded refunds and store configuration always show a preview first, and nothing changes until you confirm.
Can it refund or charge money?
No. It records refunds in WooCommerce. Paying a customer back is done by you, with your payment provider's own refund button; TendMyStore can give you a link to it. It never reads or changes payment credentials.
How do I undo something?
Ask "what did you change today?", then ask to undo one change. The history covers 30 days. Permanent deletions and emails already sent cannot be undone. See History and undo.
Does my assistant see customer details?
When a task needs them. Opening one order includes the customer's name, email, phone and addresses; order lists show name and email only. Those answers go to the assistant you use and are governed by OpenAI's or Anthropic's terms. Details are in the privacy policy.
What do you keep about my store?
Your store's address, the WooCommerce key, sign-in sessions (as hashes) and a 30-day change history, in an encrypted file on our server. Files you ask for stay in memory for one hour. The privacy policy lists everything and how long it is kept.
How do I stop it completely?
Ask your assistant to disconnect your store, or revoke the TendMyStore key in WooCommerce under Settings > Advanced > REST API. Either one ends our access. Disconnecting deletes the key, your sessions and the change history we hold for your store.
Assistants, stores and teams
Can I use ChatGPT and Claude at the same time?
Not on the same store. Each sign-in gives TendMyStore a new key and TendMyStore uses only the newest one, so signing in from a second assistant signs the first one out of that store.
Can I manage several stores?
Yes, one at a time. Each store signs in on its own, with its own key and history. A connection in your assistant works with one store; to switch, sign in again with the other store's address.
I run stores for clients. How should I connect them?
Each client store is approved by an administrator of that store, and the client can revoke the key at any time. There are no agency or team accounts yet.
Account and cost
Is there an account page?
Your store is your account. See Account for what it shows and how to sign in.
Does TendMyStore cost anything?
Not today. TendMyStore has no plans, prices or checkout.
